FIRST (Current release: v6.2)
FIRST (Floppy
Inclusions and Rigid Substructure Topography) is a software
application developed for use in analyzing the structural rigidity
and flexibility of any 3D network. FIRST can be readily applied to
complex biomolecules such as proteins or DNA. Using a single
instance of the molecule's structure, FIRST can identify which bonds
in the structure are rigid and which ones are flexible (free to
rotate). FIRST is an ideal tool for the analysis of complex
molecules for applications such as drug discovery. FIRST 6 enables
accelerated analysis of biomolecular flexibility and dynamics by
using standard, inexpensive computing resources.
FRODA
FRODA (Framework Rigidity Optimized Dynamics
Algorithm) is a valuable module within FIRST 6. FRODA enables users
to explore the conformational space available to the flexible
regions in a molecular structure. Additionally, given a starting
conformation and a target conformation, FRODA can be used to find a
continuous pathway between the two conformations. With only one
conformation, FRODA can be used to broadly explore a molecule's
conformation space.
