Connecting as a Participant
These instructions are for connecting to a Flexweb netmeeting as a participant. If you are presenting, see below. The video is handled online via the web seminar software DimDim. Audio will be supplied using Skype. You have to have microfone and speakers connected to your computer.

Requirements: DimDim Web Meeting requires Adobe Flash Player ver.8 or later (http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash) and DimDim Publisher plugin. To install the DimDim Publisher, click on “Join Meeting” and then on the yellow colored bar in the browser (at the top) and install the ActiveX browser plugin. Restart browser.

  1. Click on this link or type http://149.169.52.207/ in browser address bar
  2. Click on “Join Meeting”. Enter email, name and meeting key. Meeting key is set to 123. Before the meeting we will send you email with meeting key number.
  3. Click on “Allow” in Adobe Flash Player Settings window.
  4. Download and install Skype, set up Skype account (if you do not have one). Log into your Skype account. Email us your Skype username. 5-10 minutes before meeting we will invite you on Skype.

If you use Apple Macintosh computer you have to connect using Firefox browser.

To make PowerPoint view fit in the browser window you can use zoom function in Internet Explorer Page->Zoom->Zoom Out/In or by pressing combination Ctl+- or Ctr++. To use the zoom function in Mozilla FireFox you have to download Add-on from FireFox webpages (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1499). To control the view size in FireFox use Alt+- or Alt++.

Connecting as a Host
  1. If you would like to try a test run before the time of your talk, please email us at: kirill@asu.edu
  2. Please try to start setting up at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time of the talk. As host of the Flexweb netmeeting series, someone here at ASU will be available 30 minutes before the start of the talk.
  3. Download and install Skype, set up Skype account (if you do not have one). Log into your Skype account. Email us your Skype username. 5-10 minutes before meeting we will invite you on Skype.
  4. Click on this link or type http://149.169.52.207/ in browser address bar
  5. Click “Start Meeting” icon.
  6. In General tab enter email, name, topic. Enter Meeting Key, e.g. 123. Send email with Meeting Key number to your attendees. In Option tab set:
  7. Waiting Area: Disable

    Network: lan (or cable/dsl)

    Length: set length of connection to the server in hours and minutes (set at least 3 hours)

    Audio Video: set “audio only” or if you have camera set “audio-video”

    Attendee Mikes: 6

    Return URL: set web page address you want attendees see after they log out of meeting.

  8. Click Start.
  9. In “What would you like to do with Dimdim today?” window chose “Share desktop Screen”.
  10. Open PowerPoint or other presentation software and start presentation.

We recommend using several snapshots instead of movie in your presentation due to the slow transfer rate of movie frames via network.
